Will Sidney Crosby play again in the Playoffs with the Pittsburgh Penguins

Can Sidney Crosby return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

The talk of the off-season continues to be Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Crosby is yet to sign an extension with the Penguins. He was eligible to sign on July 1 but has not yet done so. Aside from the Rutger McGroarty trade, Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas has had a rough offseason.

Is it surprising that the Sidney Crosby Extension hasn’t been signed yet?

The Penguins are still trying to win with a core of Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson. However, they are one of the oldest teams in the NHL. Not to mention that the Metro Division is tough. Their rivals, the Washington Capitals, are rebuilding as the Penguins are trying to do so, but they are not on the Capitals’ level yet.

The question now is, with two straight seasons without the playoffs, will it be three for the Penguins? It’s hard to imagine Sidney Crosby missing the playoffs again, but that’s a real possibility if he stays in Pittsburgh and decides to move.

TSN: TSN Hockey Analyst Frankie Corrado joined Sarah Davis on SportsCenter to discuss the latest headlines heading into the 2024-25 NHL Season in a new hot or nothing segment. Corrado was asked if he thought Sidney Crosby played his last playoff game as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

NHL Rumors: Columbus Blue Jackets, and Boston Bruins

Sarah Davis: “Okay, so that’s hot. Let’s move on to the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons. This season, they may have one of the oldest rosters. So now Sidney Crosby has played his last playoff game as a Penguin. It’s hot though No.”

Frankie Corrado: “I’m going to say no, and this may be an unpopular opinion based on the lack of success the Pittsburgh Penguins have had over the past few years, but I find it hard to believe that right now, we won’t see Sidney Crosby play in the playoffs as a member of the Penguins.

And this year, in particular, the Metro is wide open without the Rangers, and the Devils should take a significant step. Islanders are not overly happy. Carolina may back down. The Washington Capitals are trying to improve. You can put the Pittsburgh Penguins in that category of teams, put them in there, and maybe they have a chance.

NHL Rumors: Penguins Want To Build Around Sidney Crosby For Another Run

Now it’s the Penguins, but with Sidney Crosby, maybe playing a few more years, we might see him in the playoffs again as a Penguin.”

Davis: “I hope we do as hockey fans.”

Let’s see how things go with Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.
