Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 – South Africa to tour Pakistan for short T20I series in September

South Africa will tour Pakistan for a short T20I series ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup, with three matches packed into a five-day window from September 16 to 20. All these matches will be played in Multan.

South Africa will arrive in Multan on September 13, CSA said in a statement, and then head to the UAE on September 21, the day after the final match against Pakistan, to prepare for the World Cup.

“This T20I series against Pakistan is an important part of our preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup,” said CSA director of cricket Enoch Nkwe. “It gives the team an important chance to get some practice, allowing us to fine-tune our tactics and ensure our players are in top form.”

This will be South Africa’s second visit to Pakistan in a year. The teams faced each other in three ODIs and three T20Is between September 1 and 14 last year – South Africa won the ODIs 2-1, while Pakistan won the T20Is.

“We are very grateful to the PCB for their cooperation and efforts in organizing this series,” said Nkwe. “This series not only helps us prepare for the World Cup but strengthens the relationship between our two cricket boards as the Proteas Women visit Pakistan for the second time in a year. It is a testament to our commitment to growing the women’s game. .

“Furthermore, by playing more international matches, we give our players a platform to showcase their talent and inspire the next generation of cricketers. We look forward to a competitive series that will benefit both teams and elevate women’s cricket to the world stage.”
