Yash Dayal is called up as the BCCI announces the Indian squad for the first Test against Bangladesh

I Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the Indian squad to play in the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh. The opening match of the series will be played in Chennai from September 19-23.

The captain Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Indian team in red-ball cricket after announcing his retirement from T20 cricket.

Remembering Rishabh Pant, a maiden chance for Yash Dayal

The most prominent inclusion in the squad is the return of the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pantwho came back strong after being laid off for a long time still injured. Pant, who played a major role in India’s Test success in recent years, will be keen to make an immediate impact.

Another highlight of the squad is the inclusion of Yash Dayalwho earned a first Test call-up based on his impressive performances in domestic cricket. Dayal joins an already assembling pace attack Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj again Akash Nzulu.

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are coming back

India’s batting order has been strengthened by the return of Virat Kohliwho missed the five-match Test series against England due to personal reasons. Kohli, one of the greatest batsmen of his generation, will be eager to contribute more in this series.

And, KL Rahul who missed a few Tests against England due to injury was recalled after the fourth innings of the recently concluded Duleep Trophy match between India A and India B.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be high on confidence after their recent sweep Pakistan in their away series. The visitors will look to carry that momentum forward and challenge India.
