Zimbabwe announced a new coach ahead of the India series

The wait is over! After weeks of speculation, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has finally announced it Justin Samsons as their new coach. Sammons will take charge of the Chevrons ahead of the five-match T20I series against India, starting on July 6.

Justin Samsons replaced Dave Houghton

This appointment comes after a rigorous selection process, just like the previous coach Dave Houghton he stepped down after Zimbabwe failed to contest the ongoing elections ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Sammons will be supported by a Zimbabwean cricketer Dion Ebrahimsigned as an assistant coach.

“We are pleased to confirm Justin as Coach of the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team,” said ZC chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani in his official statement.

“He brings with him a wealth of coaching experience and a reputation for identifying, nurturing and developing the best young talent in South Africa. His hard work and passion and sense of values ​​on and off the field make him the right person to take us forward.”

Sammons is a highly respected figure in the world of cricket, boasting extensive coaching experience across various formats. He worked as a batting consultant for the South African team from 2021 to 2023.

Speaking about his new job, Samsons said: “It is an amazing honor to be appointed as the head coach of the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team. I am looking forward and excited to start working with this talented group of players.”
