The scores were 97-91, 96-93, and 96-93. Boxing News 24 gave it to Cobbs 97-91. The 96-93 score was very kind to Broner, as he didn’t put up a good fight to lose by that close score.

Cobbs’ original statement

Cobbs, 34, put on a clinch, knocked out Broner, knocked him down hard in the second round, and the knock knocked out one of his teeth. It is not clear if it was a false tooth that Broner, 34, had removed or one of his real ones.

Either way, Broner was hit with a shot hard enough to put him on the canvas, causing him to lose a tooth.

Broner didn’t show the power and athleticism he showed early in his career when he was in the prime of his career from 2010 to 2012. His upper body was strong, making him an easy target for Cobbs’ hard punches.

Cobbs worked Broner’s body all night with jabs that clearly bothered him, making him hesitant to continue the attack. Although Broner was working forward with a careful guard, he was constantly getting hit by Cobbs’ punches and was not looking good.

In rounds seven through ten, Broner was able to take shots at Cobbs, who looked like he was fading and not as young as he did earlier in the fight. However, Broner’s punches were of the arm variety, and he was unable to hurt Cobbs or knock him down. He needed to be beaten, but that was not going to happen.

With this defeat, Broner has lost three of his last six fights, and his career appears to be in dire straits. He hasn’t announced his retirement, but that’s something he should consider.
