The club made a final decision on Julian Alvarez

It’s fair to say that Man City are an embarrassment of riches in all areas of their squad, not least in attack where Julian Alvarez can be seen as a replacement at the moment.

Argentina’s World Cup winner has been unable to put Erling Haaland out of his stride up front, and that has led to speculation that Alvarez could be keen on a move on.

Pep Guardiola’s decisions cannot really be questioned, as he has brought the club four of the last five Premier League titles and their first ever Champions League win.

Man City will not sell Julian Alvarez

For Alvarez, however, some of those successes may seem hollow given that he would not be playing a full-time role.

Indeed, WhoScored notes that he has only played 90 minutes in six games in all competitions this calendar year, with City having competed in 26 games in that time.

It is not surprising why the striker may bite his feet if he feels that the manager maybe trusts him when he has won games, or will be played against opponents who are not expected to confuse the Cityzens.

Julian Alvarez will not leave Man City

However, like it or not, he is not going anywhere.

According to Football Insider sources, Man City have made the decision that Alvarez will not be sold, suggesting that he is, in fact, a key member of a title-winning team.

Whether the status quo will eventually change next season is a turning point at this stage.

Guardiola and his backroom staff will have time before the first whistle blows in the 2024/25 campaign to reflect and decide the best course of action for several of their players.

Should Alvarez suffer a similar fate in the first half of the new season, it is almost certain that his future will be a matter of speculation again in January.
