MLB Announces 2024 All-Star Rosters

The starters for the 94th All-Star Game were revealed earlier this week, and the league has now announced the rest of the National League and American League rosters for the upcoming Midsummer Classic on July 16 in Arlington. Each roster is made up of 32 players – nine local starters determined by fan voting, then 23 pitchers and supporting position players selected by both player vote and input from the Commissioner’s office.

Specifically, the league’s selection section will help comply with the requirement that each team must have at least one All-Star representative. This rule may also be observed with substitutions that will definitely be named on the roster in the coming days, as some players will not participate in the All-Star Game due to injury or personal choice. The ASG starters won’t be announced until July 15, with those decisions being made by each team’s manager (Diamondbacks captain Torey Lovullo of the National League, and Bruce Bochy of the Rangers of the American League).

The Phillies have the best record in baseball, so it’s no surprise that they lead the field with seven players named to the NL team. The Dodgers had six players named to the NL team, while the Rangers and Padres each had five All-Stars. Thirty-two players selected are first-time All-Stars, and four are MLB rookies overall – Shota Imanaga, Mason Miller, Jackson Merrill, and Paul Skenes.
