Chris Paul Reveals Which Spurs Legend Texted Him After Signing

Chris Paul has won the hearts of several Spurs legends, he revealed in his press conference in San Antonio.

The 12-time All-Star said he received texts from Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili when the trade became public and made him even more excited to be part of the team.

CP3 could have played near his home in the LA area where his family lives and chased the tournament, but he was willing to sacrifice those things for minutes.

“My family is everything. “My wife is here, my kids are back in LA, and that’s where they’ll be during the season,” Paul said. “I love basketball so much that I can be close to home, but if I don’t play, I’m not happy.

“And I love my family to death. So, when we see this opportunity, even though it will take me away from my family, my family knows me better than anyone and they know that I just want to play. I want to play more than anything. That’s why I thank them and I’m very grateful to be here.”

Paul is known for improving the winning percentages of every team he’s played for, and with San Antonio finishing with the second-worst record in the league in 2023-24, his help will undoubtedly be welcomed.

“I always say I hate losing more than I love winning,” he said.

The 34-year-old has coached several NBA stars in his time and is now set to work with prolific talent Victor Wembanyama.

But modestly, Paul is happy with what he can learn from the younger players.

“That’s probably been the best thing about my career that, yeah, I’ve gone to little or no teams, but I’m always learning from these guys,” Paul said.

“I got the chance to play [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander] In his second year in the league, I had the opportunity to learn from him. I got the chance to study [Devin Booker], Mikal Bridges and all those guys. So, I’m excited to share with these guys what I know and whatever they want to know, but I’m also excited to see what I can learn from them.”
