Watkins’ goals help the Villans inflict more misery on the Toffees
Ollie Watkins scored his first goals of the season as Aston Villa played a major role in Everton’s two-goal lead for the second game in a row to beat the Premier League’s bottom side at Villa Park.
Dwight McNeil put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute before Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubled the lead 11 minutes later, Watkins, who tried early on to block the line, scored twice in 23 minutes either side. -time.
Just as they were at home to Bournemouth just before the international break, Everton then saw what was a 2-0 deficit a 3-2 defeat as John Duran scored a 76th-minute winner from 30 yards to move Villa third, despite Calvert. -Lewin sent a shot against the woodwork two minutes later.
Everton have not won since December 2023 and join Southampton as the only teams to lose their first four top-flight games this season.
