What we know: Andy Murray he underwent surgery for a spinal tumor on Saturday.
What we don’t know: whether or not the two-time Wimbledon champion will come to play at Wimbledon.
A tweet by the ATP saying that Murray will miss Wimbledon has been deleted, and Murray is currently holding on to hope, with only a week left until the Wimbledon draw.
“Obviously he had the procedure yesterday, and you’ll have to wait and see now,” British Davis Cup captain Leon Smith told the BBC on Sunday, per Reuters. “My understanding is that no decision has been made and let’s hope for the best for Andy.”
It’s a wait and see for Murray this week, as the 37-year-old assesses his recovery with Wimbledon front and centre, and the 2024 Paris Olympics lurking not far away…
According to Stuart Fraser of the London Times: “Murray has not retired from Wimbledon as it is.” He had minor surgery on his back on Saturday and is now on the mend. The All England Club has left Andy and his brother Jamie two open cards for now. ”
