Anthony Edwards Responded Going Down 3-0

Anthony Edwards couldn’t pull the Minnesota Timberwolves to victory in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals on Sunday.

The Dallas Mavericks won the game 116-107 and took a 3-0 lead in the series.

Edwards talked postgame about his approach to the unpleasant place the wolves find themselves.

“I never thought the sky was falling,” Edwards said. “I’m always positive, I’m always happy. I have done the works, so the sky will never fall on me.

“We can’t have a good idea yet. We will not be negative. Try to get one win at a time.”

Edwards was also asked what stood out in the box, and he replied, “They had 31 free-throws; we were 17.”

Edwards finished the game with 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists on 11-24 shooting from the field.

But he took just three shots in the fourth quarter and didn’t get enough support from his teammates, especially Karl-Anthony Towns, who finished with 14 points on 5-18 shooting and 0-8 from three.

Minnesota was simply overwhelmed by the excellent fourth quarter play of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Donic and Irving finished with 33 points apiece, and Daniel Gafford’s block and dunk combination capped the game.

“We’re still saying one more, we need one more,” Doncic said. “Nothing has been done. They have an amazing team, so nothing is (done) yet. We have to get another one, if we get another one, we need another one.”
