While every travel professional has the benefit of using customized gear, Bryson DeChambeau’s setup takes things to a whole new level.

Golf’s “mad scientist,” DeChambeau has a long history of weird gear setups, currently including a driver designed for a long drive circuit and single-length, 3D-printed irons.

DeChambeau’s other technique making headlines this weekend is his golf ball selection strategy. Before his round, he floats his balls in Epsom salt to identify those with perfectly centered cores.

As a three-stroke lead at the US Open at the 54-hole mark, it’s clear that there’s something to DeChambeau’s unusual approach.
