England vs Iceland: Preview, predictions and fixtures

England host Iceland at Wembley Stadium on Friday night in their final match before the start of Euro 2024.

Gareth Southgate’s side struggled to get through the gears on Tyneside on Monday but a better second-half performance helped by displays from substitutes Adam Wharton and Jack Grealish saw England win 3-0 against a stubborn Bosnia and Herzegovina side.

The Three Lions’ preparations for the Euros will continue after Friday’s game, but this will be their last before they face Serbia on June 16. The deadline for Southgate to send his 26-man squad is also Friday.

The football history of England and Iceland is defined by the last 16 played at Euro 2016 when the minnows prevailed on the darkest night in the modern history of the Three Lions.

England have since beaten Iceland twice in the UEFA Nations League, and Friday’s match was the first meeting in four years.

Here it is 90 min preview of Friday’s friendly at Wembley.
