Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) returns home to defend his IBF belt against Crowley (22-0, 9 KOs). This is his first title defense, which he gave after the previous champion, Terence Crawford, chose not to defend it against him.

The idea that Ennis’ promoter Eddie Hearn brought him home for this fight is that it is not big enough to sell in Las Vegas or New York because the Canadian Crowley is not a well-known fighter in the US.

Boot Ennis’ hometown, Philadelphia is the only place where the fight between him and the 31-year-old Crowley was unknown. According to Hearn, tickets are selling fast, and he expects to sell out well before July 13.

Ennis’s warning to Crowley

“Keep talking, you will be beaten the most in your life. I promise you that. We can make any bet. Look, I’m glad he accepted the fight,” said Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, speaking to his opponent, Cody Crowley, at the first press conference today for their July 13 fight in Philadelphia.

If all goes well for Boot, he could fight WBC champion Mario Barrios next in a unification fight. Boots needs to beat Crowley and look good on July 13. Hearn believes he can get Barrios or WBA champion Eimants Stanionis to agree to fight him if the money is right.

“Jaron Ennis is a star. I love this kid, Cody Crowley. He is 22-0. He’s not going to be good enough tonight, but he’s going to deliver.” promoter Hearn asked the media about ‘Boots’ Ennis’ fight against Crowley.

“He is there [Ennis] he should win these titles at 147, then he should go fight Terence Crawford if Crawford adds Madrimov. Every day that goes by, I still think, ‘Madrimov is going to tame Terence Crawford on August 3rd in Los Angeles.

It’s too early for Hearn to talk about putting together a fight between Boot Ennis and Terence Crawford. Ennis still needs to beat Crowley and defeat Barrios and Stanionis. Crawford has Madrimov and anyone else after that.

“You have 147 people, who will consider Bots as their payday. Barrios and Stanionis. What other battles will they be in? They have to see to it that the Boots fight for me to pay or pay for the place or any place I have to pay for to give them their payday,” said Hearn.
