Erik ten Hag explains why he can’t be blamed for Man Utd’s rubbish transfer

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has refused to take responsibility for spending almost half a billion in the transfer market on disappointing signings.

Antony, Casemiro, and Mason Mount are a few players who have disappointed the fans since they arrived at Old Trafford, as they were brought in for extortionate money.

The Ten Hag recently said it had nothing to do with top player ratings and instead suggested former chief executive Richard Arnold and former director of football John Murtough approve investments that have failed to reward or delight fans.

“The prices paid to the players are really high – but I’m not to blame for that,” said the Dutch player (via A mirror). “The team did all the negotiations, including the best players who didn’t make it to the end.

“So it’s very different from the picture that is being painted that the buying policy is a disaster. It’s all bad, but despite all the problems, the club’s base has grown from strength to strength.

“That may not be visible to the whole world now, but everyone inside will make that analysis.

“It’s the same talents [Kobbie] Mainoo, [Alejandro] Garnacho, Hojlund and someone like Amad Diallo, who has improved a lot, the future looks bright. “

Should Ten Hag stay at the Red Devils, he is set to bring in three new faces – a striker, a defender and a midfielder – this summer. Arsenal midfielder Jordan Reece is also set to move to Old Trafford and could provide valuable expertise to help the club challenge for the top of the table again.

Ten Hag continued: “You can start playing towards the top four with an eleven like that. ball at the back, and an extra midfielder.

“That was the way and in theory we will be stronger and able to take the next step.”
