In reply, England’s batting line-up buckled under the pressure of the Indian bowling attack. The openers Philip Salt again Jos Buttler got off to a shaky start, with Salt falling early in the 5th. Although Buttler tried to stop the innings with a quick 23 off 15 balls, England kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
