Football fans vote for best England player ahead of Euro 2024 in YouGov poll
Football fans have voted Phil Foden as England’s best player for Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.
The Three Lions are one of the teams expected to go a long way in Euro 2024, and Gareth Southgate’s are the best to win the tournament along with Didier Deschamps’ French team.
Expectations are high in England because of the talent Southgate currently possesses. The current generation has been hailed as the new ‘golden generation’ due to its deep strength, especially in the final third, which the manager should call upon this summer.
In a poll conducted by YouGov, England fans were asked to choose who they believed to be the third best Lions in the team, and chose Phil Foden as the national star.
Looking at his form in the 2023/24 season, it’s easy to see why the attacking midfielder received 39% of the total votes. Foden enjoyed a superb campaign in 2023/24, winning FWA Footballer of the Year for the first time and scoring 27 goals as Man City won a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title.
Close behind Foden in the poll was Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham with 34% of the vote. After joining Madrid in the 2023 summer transfer window, Bellingham almost became a star at the Santiago Bernabeu due to the sheer number of goals he was able to score.
His 23 goals in all competitions helped Madrid win the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League final, where he will face his former club Borussia Dortmund.
With 27% of the votes, England captain Harry Kane came third in the poll. Like Bellingham, Kane also did some serious work in the summer transfer window – moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich.
Although he was unable to secure a trophy in his first campaign in Bavaria, he managed to score a lot of goals, netting 36 in 32 Bundesliga games.
All three players will be key to England’s hopes of winning their first Euro in Germany this summer.
