Golf Business News – Burhill reports significant sales increase following pro shop remodel

Burhill Group Limited has announced that its 2023 refurbishment of its retail space at Burhill Golf Club in Surrey has resulted in the group’s specialist shop becoming one of its most profitable retail spaces.

In March 2023, BGL completely renovated the specialist shop in partnership with Millerbrown. Investment in new retail space and a bespoke Trackman studio has totaled more than £250,000 and has been instrumental in the positive change in retail profits for the group and the wider BGL group.

The club’s retail space increased by 33% during the renovation allowing the space to improve store design and visual merchandising, while increasing the representation of club-designed apparel and hardware. Despite being closed for three months for refurbishment, the Walton-on-Thames site has seen an 18% increase in sales compared to 2022 figures.

The group’s sales figures highlight a 9% increase in those from 2022, above the industry average. The Burhill pro shop provides a case study of targeted investments by BGL to generate additional revenue for the business, further developing the portfolio.

Colin Mayes, CEO of BGL, commented: “It’s great to see Burhill’s premium store investment coming to fruition, with impressive revenue figures resulting in Burhill being one of our best performing stores. Our partnership with Millerbrown and the positive revenue performance allow us to consider further investment projects in our other locations in the UK.”

The Burhill Golf Club store is the latest in a series of successful investments from BGL, as they partner with professional golf retailer Millerbrown to complete the refurbishment of four stores: Birchwood Park Golf & Country Club, Thornbury Golf Centre, Ramsdale. Park Golf Center and Wycombe Heights Golf Centre. A custom Trackman fitting room was also installed at Burhill to complement the Trackman custom studio already operating at Hoebridge Golf Centre.

Mayes added: “The partnership we’ve formed with Millerbrown has allowed us to take our quality retail spaces to the next level. We have seen revenue growth at Burhill Golf Club, and that is a testament to our collective focus on high quality products and service, coupled with strategic design and space planning. We are excited to continue to develop our golf retail locations across the group.”
