“I hope that happens” – Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is hopeful of a loan move for the striker

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe hopes young striker Garang Kuol will be loaned out next season to gain more experience and development.

The Magpies are currently on their post-season friendly tour of Australia. They flew to the other side of the world after their final Premier League game on Sunday against Brentford.

Their first friendly match was against Tottenham, which they won 5-4 on penalties. The second game was today against the A-League All Stars in Melbourne, where Eddie Howe made a number of changes, fielding a very young squad. They ended up being beaten 8-0.

Garang Kuol appeared in both games. He came on as a substitute for Callum Wilson against Tottenham with the score still 1-1 and successfully converted his penalty in the shootout.

Eddie Howe is hoping to get Kuol back on loan

Speaking ahead of the game, Howe also praised Kuol’s recent performance against Tottenham and highlighted the need for him to get more game time on another loan to ensure a successful development.

Discussing this young Australian, he said (quoting The Shields Gazette):

“He has been with us since we started our journey from England,”

“It’s nice to see him and talk to him but it was a tough game [for him] going in because we didn’t have a lot of football, we went to a slightly smaller team so it was about defending and seeing the game come out like that.”

When asked about his future, he replied:

“It is very difficult to say for sure what will happen to the player right now because there is still a long way to go before the season starts, but it is possible that there will be another important loan for him,”

“He’s had a couple of loan spells now but he needs the next one to be successful and we need him to get more game time and hopefully that will happen.”

Kuol’s performance and future loan spell are seen as crucial to his continued growth and involvement in Newcastle United’s long-term plans.
