IPL: Kochi Tuskers Kerala did not pay cricket players, says former India all-rounder Sreesanth
In the glittering world of Indian Premier League (IPL), when million-dollar deals and outrageous bids dominate the headlines, there’s often a darker side to the game that gets overlooked. Recently, former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth sheds light on one such issue, revealing the outstanding amounts owed to players by the defunct IPL franchise, Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
Famous stars did not get their due: Sreesanth
In an open revelation, Sreesanth revealed that several cricketers, including famous names like Muttiah Muralitharan again Mahela Jayawardene, they are not getting their due payments from the franchise. Despite the players being assured and promised repeatedly, the players are left in awe, fighting to recover the money owed to them.
“They have to pay a lot of money. You have to find Muralitharan sir (Muttiah Muralitharan), you have to find Mahela (Mahela Jayawardene) and in your program they will only tell you that nobody has (the money),” said Sreesanth The Ranveer Show Podcast.

Sreesanth asks to get money with interest
Sreesanth also highlighted the sudden end of Kochi Tuskers in the cash-rich league. Amidst the turmoil and uncertainty surrounding the franchise, players find themselves struggling due to the financial collapse. For people like Sreesanth, who have dedicated their lives to the sport, such injustice runs deep, putting a shadow on their achievements and contributions to the sport.
“Please guys, BCCI has really paid you, I think. Please pay us anytime if you pay 18% interest every year. The group was supposed to last for three years and the group was cut off in the first year, I think no one has talked about it yet,” Sreesanth added.
Sreesanth’s revelation underscores the need for greater transparency and accountability in the management of the IPL franchise. While the league has brought unprecedented success and prosperity to Indian cricket, it is important not to overlook the human cost behind the glitz and glamour.
