Korda Calls Out Italian Fans Who Abused Him During Rome Victory

Sebastian Korda has a message for the group of fans who mobbed him during his 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-4 win over Italy’s Flavio Cobolli on Friday: It’s all good.

The American took to Twitter to shout out insulting fans after his two hour and 43 minute win, saying: “Shout out to my followers for talking bad about my girlfriend, family and team for 2.5 hours. Thanks for the extra encouragement โ€“ โ€‹โ€‹I love you all!โ€

27th-ranked Korda picked up his first win in Rome, making his third appearance, and will face Taylor Fritz in the third round.

Fritz eliminated another Italian, Fabio Fognini, 6-3, 6-4.

American Ben Shelton also advanced to the third round on Friday, defeating Pavel Kotov, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Marcos Giron (v Rublev) and Tommy Paul (v Karatsev) will contest their second round matches on Saturday, as the American men attempt to place five in the round of 32 at the Foro Italico.
