Man Utd youngsters play Cristiano Ronaldo in the FA Cup
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo became the first youngsters to score in the FA Cup final since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2004 after beating Manchester City on Saturday.
Garnacho was the first to find the net, putting his side ahead on 30 minutes. The lead remained in the hands of the Red Devils and soon doubled as Mainoo made it 2-0 in just 9 minutes.
The strike came from City’s Jeremy Doku in the final stages of the game, but United held firm until the final whistle.
Erik ten Hag’s two young goals proved crucial at Wembley, giving the Red Devils the chance to lift the silverware.
They also managed to match United legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s achievement of becoming the first youth player to score in the FA Cup final since the Portuguese played for Millwall in 2004.
Mainoo added another medal to his belt, becoming the first England teenager to score since West Ham’s John Sissons, who beat Preston North End in the 1964 final.
The pair also made history, as for the first time in the FA Cup final, two young players got their names on the score sheet.
United’s success meant Ten Hag’s second trophy in his reign at Old Trafford, in what could be his last against the Red Devils. The club also managed to secure a place in the Europa League for next season, despite finishing outside the top six.
Manchester City missed out on a double, after lifting the Premier League trophy last week.
