NHL rumors: Brady Tkachuk, Martin Necas, and Sean Monahan

Brady Tkachuk speculation “complete BS”

Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic: Ottawa Senators GM Steve Staios when asked about the Brady Tkachuk trade speculation that has surfaced on social media.

“End the BS We built this team in the Brady area. His leadership and unique skill set are rare.

There is absolutely nothing true about it.”

Ryan Whitney tweeted in February that the Senators would “probably” trade Tkachuk at the deadline. Staios said at the time “that couldn’t be further from the truth.”

Martin Necas made sense to several groups

Pierre LeBrun of the Athletic: You see how Martin Necas can be opened for a change of location. The 25-year-old is still an RFA-in-waiting. Necas’ father said that Martin would be open to moving, but he found out that his father does not always speak for his son.

Necas on NHL.com’s Aaron Vickers on Sunday:

“We will see what will happen. I don’t really care now. What will happen will happen. My agent will take care of that. We’ll figure it out. Now I will celebrate this award and I will enjoy it a little bit.”

It doesn’t look like he’ll sign a long-term deal with the Hurricanes. It is known that Necas’ name came up in trade talks with the Vancouver Canucks regarding Elias Pettersson. Necas was part of the Hurricanes’ offer to the Calgary Flames for Matthew Tkachuk in 2022.

The Hurricanes will not look to the future as they are in winning mode now. If the Hurricanes don’t get an offer for a ‘star-caliber asset,’ they might be fine with staying with him.

The Nashville Predators and Boston Bruins make sense. The Canucks have had previous interest.

What Necas wants in a long-term deal will also come into play.

Marek: “Stick to the Winnipeg Jets. In terms of player personnel, is there a chance they can keep Sean Monahan? That was really good.

Friedman: “I think they’re trying. Just a few, in making all my calls over the weekend, just hearing what was going on there, too. All these stories were going on there.

But there was a sense that Winnipeg wants to keep him, is trying to keep him, and what chiefs would fall if they kept him? “
