NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, Nashville Predators, and Philadelphia Flyers
Could the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators use the Mitch Marner–Juuse Saros trade?
David Pagnotta of the Fourth Season: It’s hard to see Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares wanting to waive his no-movement clause in the final year of his contract.
Some close to Mitch Marner’s camp think he can/should consider a change if the Leafs are looking to trade him. The Leafs won’t be looking for a package of future assets, they’ll be looking for talent.
Wondering about the Nashville Predators. Marner would fit in well there and GM Barry Trotz could consider moving Juuse Saros to the right deal.
The Leafs may have faith in Joseph Woll but he has injury concerns.
There will have to be other pieces involved and it won’t just be Marner for Saros. It’s a move that would make sense for both parties.
NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, and Joel Quenneville
The Philadelphia Flyers could have a busy season
Anthony Di Marco of the Fourth Season: Philadelphia Flyers forward Travis Konecny has a year left on his contract and is eligible for a contract extension this summer. Flyers can hope for $8 to $8.5 million but some in the game think he’ll be looking at Timo Meier’s eight-year, $8.8 million deal. One source said he could ask for $10 million each as the cap rises.
Think the Flyers will look for a left defenseman to play with Jamie Drysdale. They have been linked to Jakob Chychrun of the Ottawa Senators. Acquisition and expansion costs can be very high. Someone like Mattias Samuelsson of the Sabers is what the Flyers would want.
Joel Farabee’s name keeps coming up and he believes it will have to be a hockey trade. He was told the Flyers didn’t buy him.
It’s no surprise that the Flyers would be interested in the young center. Anaheim Ducks Trevor Zegras is one player available.
NHL rumors: Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, and Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers have the first round pick of the Florida Panthers, which will be a late pick. They believe they can look to combine picks with a player and try to move up to the top-12. Could the Sabers still be interested in Scott Laughton?
