Roberto de Zerbi: ‘I never had an offer’

Outgoing Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi insists he has not been offered another job – yet.

The Seagulls announced the Italian will leave the club after Sunday’s game against Manchester United at the Amex, which the visitors won 2-0.

The 44-year-old has been linked with a number of big jobs across Europe, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich, but after the game de Zerbi told BBC Sport: “At the moment, nothing. No club – no one has been offered (a deal).”

The former Shakhtar Donetsk coach joined Brighton after Graham Potter’s departure in September 2022 but is less than half way through a four-year contract.

“I hope to work in the Premier League again. I don’t know where or when. It is an honor to work in the Premier League,” he added.

De Zerbi guided the south coast side to a top-six finish last season and to the last-16 of the Europa League in their first European campaign of the season, with memorable victories over Ajax and Marseille before exiting on aggregate 4- 1 The Romans.

Brighton have been linked with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna as they seek an immediate appointment.
