The Royals selected a right-hander Matt Sauer for assignment he also chose a left-handed reliever contract Sam Long from Triple-A Omaha, according to a team announcement. Sauer was selected out of the Yankees organization in December’s Rule 5 Draft. The Royals will have a week to sell him or put him in jail, and if he is not wanted he must be returned to the Yankees.
