Twitter explodes as KKR thrash SRH in Qualifier 1 to reach IPL 2024 final
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered a convincing eight-wicket win against them Sunriers Hyderabad (SRH) in Qulifier 1 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 22). Mitchell StarcThe bowling performance played a key role in KKR’s progress to the finals of IPL 2024. Starc’s dangerous bowling, where he claimed three crucial wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 8.50, not only restricted SRH to a limited total but also set a ton of big chases for KKR. Chasing a target of 160 runs, KKR achieved the target well with 6 wickets to spare with 38 balls to spare, thanks to stellar performances from Venkatesh Iyer again Shreyas Iyer.
Early wickets hampered SRH’s innings
SRH started badly as Travis Head got out for a golden duck in just the second ball of the innings, bowled by Starc. Abhishek Sharma it also fell cheaply, and was caught Andre Russell turned off Vaibhav Arorabowling. The quick dismissals of Head and Sharma put SRH under immediate pressure, leaving them struggling at 13/2 in the first two overs.
A solid knock by Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi emerged as SRH’s lone hero, playing crucial innings to stabilize the innings. He put together a brilliant 55 runs from 35 balls, including 7 fours and a six, strengthening the innings between the wickets falling on the other side. However, despite Tripathi’s efforts, SRH failed to capitalize on his innings and post a total.
Middle-order struggles and develops late
While Tripathi held one end, SRH saw a collapse in the middle order. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed again Heinrich Klaasen all failed to contribute much, chasing single-digit points. Abdul Samad provided late bursts with a quickfire 16 in 12 balls from the captain’s side Pat Cummins who scored 30 runs, but his efforts were not enough to propel SRH to a challenging result as they were bundled out for 159.

A good toss by Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR’s bowling unit played well to restrict SRH to less than a total. Starc led the attack well, picking up three crucial wickets. Vaibhav and Harshit Rana provided crucial overs, picking up a wicket each to keep the pressure on the SRH batting line-up. Sunil Narine and Russell also chipped in with a wicket each, ensuring that SRH did not gain momentum.
An explosive start by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine
KKR’s chase started well, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz again Sunil Narine to provide a solid foundation. Gurbaz’s aggressive style made him score 23 runs in 14 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Narine supported him well by hitting 21 quick balls off 16 balls, setting the tone for KKR to score.
Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer are an outstanding partnership
After early dismissals of Gurbaz and Narine, Venkatesh and Shreyas managed the innings with an impressive partnership. Venkatesh played a tough game, scoring 51 runs off just 28 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. His aggressive stroke put SRH under a lot of pressure and shifted the momentum in favor of KKR. Shreyas, the KKR captain, provided solid support with his explosive innings, scoring an unbeaten 58 off just 24 balls. His innings included 5 fours and 4 sixes, guiding KKR to an emphatic victory. Starc was named Man of the Match for his bowling performance.
A bowling effort by Sunrisers Hyderabad
Despite a strong effort from their bowlers, SRH struggled to contain the KKR attack. Bhuvneshwar Kumar again T Natarajan they managed to pick up a wicket apiece, but they were too expensive, conceding 28 and 22 runs respectively in their three overs each. Pat Cummins he was the most successful bowler for SRH, picking up one wicket for 38 runs in his three overs. Vijayakanth Vijayakanth again Travis Head and could not stem the flow of runs, as the KKR batsmen dominated the proceedings.
