The Detroit Pistons have fired coach Monty Williams after just one season, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Williams, who had five years and more than $65 million left on his contract, was fired following a disappointing season.
Williams – a two-time NBA coach of the year – was lured to Detroit with a massive six-year contract after leaving the Suns. He originally planned to sit out the season while dealing with his wife’s cancer diagnosis, but began rebuilding the Pistons under Troy Weaver.
