When does the 2024/25 Premier League season start?

The 2023/24 Premier League campaign may have just come to a dramatic end, but fans are already looking ahead to next season.

Of course, there is a lot to fit in, with the small matter of the Copa America, the European Championship and the Olympics in the next few months. On top of this, there will be the usual chaos that comes with the summer transfer window.

However, while the Premier League’s short break may be refreshing to fans across the country, it won’t be long before fans flock to England’s biggest competition to make a comeback.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Premier League has confirmed the start and end dates for the 2024/25 campaign, with the season kicking off at the weekend. 17/18 August. It will cover 33 weekends and four midweek rounds before reaching the finale Sunday 25th May.

There will be just over a month between the end of Euro 2024 and the 2024 Copa America (both on 14 July) and the start of the new Premier League season, as pre-season games usually start for clubs in this division in mid-July. .

Football at the Summer Olympics will end on August 10 – a week before the start of the season – as Premier League players are unlikely to get much rest ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

There will be no winter break next season because the Premier League has approved an extended summer break that allows players more time to recover in pre-season, despite more playing time during international competitions in the summer.

The 2024/25 summer transfer window will open in the Premier League on Friday 14 June and close for just over two months at 23:00 BST on Friday 30 August – two weeks before the start of the Premier League campaign.

Fortunately, the top leagues across Europe – including La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga – will all see their windows close on the same day, although the exact time may vary.

It’s always an exciting day when the Premier League fixtures are officially released for the new campaign and supporters will know their clubs’ schedule at 09:00 BST on Tuesday 18 June.

Manchester City will be chasing a fifth consecutive Premier League title and Arsenal will be hoping to stop them, as will Liverpool in their first season without Jurgen Klopp who has been in charge for more than eight years.
