The Cubs made a change behind the plate, signing a veteran catcher Tomas Nido to a major league contract and designation Yan Gomes per share, as first reported by Michael Cerami of Bleacher Nation. Nido, an ACES client, was released by the Mets earlier this week after being designated for assignment last week. The Mets are on track to receive most of this year’s $2.1MM salary. The Cubs will owe Nido only the league’s limited amount for any time spent on the roster.
