Every Liverpool player competing at Euro 2024

Liverpool may have lost the Premier League and Jurgen Klopp for the 2023/24 season, but nine Reds could still make a statement for their countries at Euro 2024.

Liverpool’s recent Premier League campaign has been marred by injuries and the departure of their beloved manager. However, the Reds managed to beat Chelsea to win the EFL Cup and finish third in the league behind Manchester City and Arsenal.

There is no time to dwell on their difficult past, as Liverpool’s best players, including their captain, Virgil van Dijk, take the stage in Germany to compete at Euro 2024.

Group A: Hungary

Midfielders:

Dominik Szoboszlai started the season as a strong feature in Liverpool’s starting XI, but saw his minutes dwindle as the months went on, especially after returning from a hamstring injury. The former RB Leipzig man has made 43 appearances in total for the Reds, however, and will be leading Hungary’s midfield at Euro 2024.

The captain will want to help produce a better result for his country after the Group Stage disappointment at Euro 2020.

Group A: Scotland

Defenders:

Andy Robertson is looking to lead Scotland to their first knockout stage at any major international competition. The left-back missed almost three months at Liverpool with a shoulder injury, but is now fit and fit to captain Scotland at Euro 2024.

Ben Doak has recently suffered a new injury unrelated to his knee surgery which has forced the 18-year-old to withdraw from the Scotland squad.

Joe Gomez is coming off a Premier League campaign where he played at centre-back, left-back, right-back and central defence. The defender has shown his versatility on the pitch as Liverpool have been plagued by injuries, and gives Gareth Southgate a reliable player off the bench.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is known as one of the best right-backs in the world, but Gareth Southgate has grown up playing him in midfield. The Liverpool star combines his defensive strength with his creativity for England, especially alongside Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.

Group D: France

Ibrahima Konate

Defenders:

Ibrahima Konaté was another player injured in Liverpool’s 2023/24 campaign. The defender played three full Premier League games for the Reds in April and May, but is fully fit for Euro 2024.

While Didier Deschamps has plenty of options in France’s back line, Konate is likely to win one of the starting spots at full back.

Group D: Netherlands

That’s right, Virgil van Dijk is back as captain of the Netherlands at Euro 2024. Not only is the Oranje midfielder the leader of the Oranje defence, but he’s always just one header away from getting on the score sheet. Just look at the EFL Cup final.

Ryan Gravenberch is Ronald Koeman’s depth in midfield, while Cody Gakpo will be heavily relied upon in attack for the Netherlands. The Liverpool striker now has nine goals for his country in just 23 appearances, including three in the Euro 2024 Qualifiers.

Group F: Portugal

Leaders:

Diogo Jota was another Reds player who missed months of the 2023/24 season due to various injuries, but is fit for Euro 2024. He has the goalscoring ability to make an impact if Portugal’s attack fails to find the back. in the net.

Jota scored 10 goals in 23 Premier League games for Liverpool last season, and two for the Selecao in their Euro 2024 qualifiers.
