Spurs Could Trade Up To Second Direct No.1 Pick From France

The San Antonio Spurs may explore trading the No. 1 pick in exchange for the 4th and 8th overall picks, according to ESPN draft expert Jonathan Givony.
And while this is just one of many possible scenarios, Givony went on to say that he certainly expects the Spurs to be aggressive on draft night.
“All I hear is that they want to compete next year, they want to get to the finals,” said Givony on The Ringer’s NBA Draft Show.
“They are looking to do this program for 2-3 years, when they will enter the lottery again next year. Right now, they want to compete next year and that’s why I think they will be aggressive with the nominees.”
If the Spurs make a move for the No. 1 pick, they could potentially use the top pick to select the Frenchman for two years in a row.
Givony’s ESPN mock draft currently projects Zaccharie Risacher to be the first overall pick, with fellow Frenchman Alex Sarr expected to be selected with the No. 2 pick.
Risacher is a young striker who plays for JL Bourg in the French top league.
Sarr, on the other hand, is a power forward/center who played for the Perth Wildcats in Australia’s NBL.
Sarr has spent a lot of time in the first round in various mock drafts, but Risacher has missed him in ESPN’s projections.
