T20 World Cup 2024 – India – Virat Kohli joins squad ahead of warm-up vs Bangladesh

Virat Kohli joined the Indian team in New York on Friday for the T20 World Cup 2024, days after his teammates arrived. However, it is not clear whether he will play the warm-up match against Bangladesh at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on June 1.
Kohli, who is coming off the back of a fine IPL season in which he scored 741 runs in 15 matches, will have three sessions before the first match against Ireland on June 5.

There was an optional voluntary session on Friday morning where the likes of Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube and Mohammed Siraj sweated under the guidance of the support staff.

The team management and BCCI have done something different with Kohli in the past. He was allowed to take a break before the South Africa Test series last year to head to the UK for personal reasons before joining the team. She skipped the entire England Test series at home earlier this year due to the birth of her second child.

The Indian team went to New York in groups, the players of the teams were released after the league stage of IPL 2024 who went first, except for Hardik Pandya, who arrived after the break, followed by the players during and when their teams were eliminated from the play-offs. Kohli has so far missed three training sessions.

India’s first match in the World Cup will be on June 5, where they will face Ireland, followed by the group stage where they will face Pakistan on June 9, the USA on June 12, and Canada on June 15. The first three matches will be played in New York and the last in Lauderhill, Florida.
